‘Stranger Things’ and ‘Game of Thrones’ fans clash as ‘House of the Dragon’ sets highest viewership record

The tweet clearly states: “HBO’s @HouseofDragon brought the first episode to 2.6 million US households in its first six hours on both traditional linear TV and streaming. The @GameOfThrones spin-off generated the most viewership for any premium cable or streaming premiere in 2022.” On the other hand, Season 4 of “Stranger Things,” which is the series of This year’s weirdest and scariest sci-fi supernatural horror, drew nearly 1.2 million American households for its fourth season premiere earlier this summer.

This same “House of the Dragon” news scoop surpassing “Stranger Things” Season 4 viewership record was posted by Film Updates on their official Twitter account on August 23rd. The caption read, “#HouseOfTheDragon is officially the most-watched series premiere of 2022, surpassing ‘Euphoria’ Season 2 and ‘Stranger Things 4.’

As soon as this news was confirmed by the outlet, it sent fans into a frenzy. They all turned Twitter into a Live Tweet fest in which “GoT” fans slyly took criticism from “Stranger Things” fans in the comments. They mentioned how iconic “GoT” was and everything about the best was epic. Some “Stranger Things” fans criticized the prequel series for being pathetic and so on.

The first episode of “House of the Dragon” is now streaming on HBO Max and Disney+ Hotstar. The second episode titled “The Rogue Prince” will air worldwide on August 28, 2022, Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and HBO Max.
