Seven injured as Brazil and Argentina soccer fans clash

A huge brawl in Bangladesh between rival supporters of the Argentinian and Brazilian soccer teams has left at least seven people injured, police said on Thursday.

The two South American giants have a large following in the South Asian nation, and at times the rivalry has escalated into violence.

Up to 300 people were involved in a brawl on Wednesday in which supporters threw rocks and bricks at a cricket ground outside the capital Dhaka, the inspector told AFP. Masud Rana font.

Officers said the clash began after a row over the strength of the two sides, with Argentina fans praising the team’s wins against Italy and Estonia in recent weeks.

Police said they have not yet made any arrests over the incident.

But the country is also home to millions of Brazilian and Argentine fans, with football stars like Lionel Messi and Neymar adored alongside Bollywood celebrities.
