The two groups of supporters behind the goal came together after the final whistle and had to be separated by stewards.

There was thrown object reports as some fans tried to make their way through the security barriers, which are in place to separate the two groups of supporters.

An announcement on Burnley’s public address system asked fans to disperse and leave the floor immediately.

Moments before, there were positive scenes away as the Arsenal players celebrated three points with the traveling contingent.

Aaron Ramsdale, Kieran Tierney and match winner Martin Odegaard each donated their shirts to cap off a great day.

But the altercation spoiled a big away win for Arsenal – their first of the season – and one which the players worked very hard for.

However, Sean Dyche and his team may feel a little aggrieved that they didn’t get something from the game, with VAR denying them a late penalty.

Aaron Ramsdale initially appeared to stumble Matej Vydra after Ben White’s weak back pass, but the video replay showed he got the ball first.

The goalkeeper was expected to be in top form as he twice denied Burnley in the second half to clinch his second clean sheet in as many matches.

Arsenal didn’t create much from open play, but Odegaard’s brilliant free kick was enough for the win.
